How to track Campaigns & GMV

Campaigns groups creators, content, and a promo code under one name, so you can see real GMV pulled from delivered orders, not just reach or follower counts. It's built for Ecommerce brands running creator-driven pushes.

This guide covers creating a campaign, how GMV and spend are calculated, and closing one out.

Creating a Campaign

A Campaign is a named container for a specific push: a launch, a seasonal push, a sponsored series, whatever you want to measure as a unit.

  • Give it a Name, optional Description, start and end dates, and a Budget.
  • Attach a Promo Code so BrandOps can match real orders back to this campaign automatically.
  • New campaigns start in Planning status.

Status Pipeline

A campaign moves through a simple status pipeline that reflects where it is in its lifecycle.

  • Planning, Active, and Paused are all selectable directly from the campaign editor.
  • Completed is different: it's never a manual dropdown choice. It's only reached through the dedicated Close-out action, so a campaign can't end up marked done without its numbers actually being frozen.

Linking Creators & Content

Each campaign tracks how many creators and how many pieces of content are tied to it, right on the campaign list.

  • Attach influencers from your Creator CRM to the campaign to bring their agreed rate, cash fee, and product value into the spend calculation.
  • Content posted for the campaign is tracked through the Content Pipeline and counted per campaign.

GMV & Spend Calculation

This is where Campaigns earns its name: it connects creator activity to actual revenue, not just reach or engagement.

  • GMV sums Order.amount for every order that used the campaign's promo code and has a status of Delivered, Shipped, or Packed. This is the same eligible-order rule used everywhere GMV is calculated in BrandOps.
  • Spend sums each linked creator's agreed rate for the campaign, plus their cash fee and product value from their Creator CRM record.
  • The campaign list header shows totals across every campaign: total campaign count, how many are Active, and total GMV.

Closing Out a Campaign

When a campaign wraps, use its Close-out tab to lock in the final numbers permanently.

  • Close campaign & freeze numbers takes the current GMV, spend, creator count, and posted-content count and stores them as a permanent snapshot.
  • This also sets the campaign's status to Completed.
  • Once closed, the snapshot can't be edited further. It's a historical record, not a live number anymore.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a campaign's GMV calculated?

GMV is the sum of every order's amount where that order used the campaign's promo code and its status is Delivered, Shipped, or Packed. Pending, cancelled, or unfulfilled orders never count toward GMV, so the number reflects real fulfilled revenue, not just orders placed.

What counts as "spend" for a campaign?

Spend is calculated from every creator linked to the campaign: their agreed rate for that campaign plus their cash fee and product value from the Creator CRM. It's a completely separate number from anything logged in the Ad Spend tool.

What's the difference between Campaigns and Email Campaigns?

Campaigns groups creators, content, and a promo code together to measure GMV. Email Campaigns sends a one-off promo email to your existing audience. They're unrelated tools that happen to share the word "campaign."

Do I need a promo code for GMV to show up?

Yes. GMV is only pulled for campaigns that have a promo code attached. Without one, there's nothing to match orders against, so GMV shows as zero.

What happens when I close out a campaign?

Closing out freezes the campaign's current GMV, spend, creator count, and posted-content count as a permanent snapshot, and sets its status to Completed. The snapshot can't be edited after that.

Can I set a campaign's status to Completed myself?

No. Completed isn't a selectable option in the campaign editor. The only way to reach it is the dedicated Close-out action, which freezes the GMV/spend snapshot at the same time. This keeps a campaign from ever being marked done without that snapshot actually being taken.

What statuses can a campaign move through?

Planning, Active, and Paused are all selectable directly. Completed only happens through Close-out.
