How to build an Outreach Template library
Templates are BrandOps' reusable DM and email scripts, saved once and shared everywhere you'd otherwise be rewriting the same message: Outreach, Outreach Sequences, and Email Campaigns all pull from the same organization-wide library.
This guide covers what a template is, how stages work, and where the library shows up.
What a Template Is
A template is a saved, reusable message: a name, an optional subject, and a body, ready to drop into any outreach surface.
- Name is what you'll recognize it by in the picker; Subject is optional; Body is the message content.
- Templates belong to your organization, so anyone on the team can reuse one another wrote.
- A template can optionally be scoped to a specific brand, or left available to every brand in the organization.
Stages
Every template is tagged with a Stage, purely to keep your list organized by where it fits in a typical outreach flow.
- First DM: an opening message to someone you haven't contacted yet.
- Follow-up: a nudge after silence.
- Product Brief: details once someone's shown interest.
- Post-collab: wrap-up messaging after work is done.
- Custom: anything that doesn't fit the above, and the default for a new template.
Who Can Use Templates
The Templates page only appears for workspaces where cold outreach actually applies.
- Available to Ecommerce, SaaS, Consulting, and Freelance business types.
- Locked out for other business types, since there's no outreach pipeline to attach templates to.
Copying & Reusing
Even outside the picker chips, every template's body is one click away from your clipboard.
- Use the copy button on any template card to grab its body text directly, for pasting into an Instagram DM or anywhere else outside BrandOps.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a template's Stage and where I can use it?
Stage (First DM, Follow-up, Product Brief, Post-collab, or Custom) is just an organizing label shown on the Templates list. It doesn't restrict where you can use it, and any template can be inserted into Outreach, Outreach Sequences, or Email Campaigns regardless of its stage.
Are templates shared across my whole organization, or just one brand?
Organization-wide. Every template you create is pulled by organization, not filtered to whichever brand you currently have selected, so a script written under one brand is instantly available under another in the same organization.
Where else do my templates show up besides the Templates page?
As clickable chips in Outreach's lead composer, as a dropdown in each variant of an Outreach Sequence step, and as chips on the Email Campaigns compose form. It's the same underlying library in all three places, so a script you save once is reusable everywhere.
Does a template need a subject line?
No, Subject is optional. That makes templates useful for Instagram DM-style scripts that don't have a subject line at all, alongside email templates that do.
Can I use personalization placeholders in a template?
Yes. Once you insert a template into Outreach, a Sequence step, or Email Campaigns, the same {{name}}, {{company}}, and other placeholders that compose form supports still work. The template only prefills the subject and body; it doesn't change how sending works.
Who can see the Templates page?
It's gated by Business Type, same as Outreach and Outreach Sequences: only Ecommerce, SaaS, Consulting, and Freelance workspaces see it, since cold outreach templates only make sense alongside a lead-gen pipeline.
