How plans and billing work
Every BrandOps organization starts on a 14-day free trial with full access, no card required. This guide covers picking a plan, upgrading, cancelling, and exactly what happens to your dashboard if a trial or subscription lapses.
For payment mechanics such as checkout, Razorpay, and webhooks, see the Payments & Invoices guide.
The plans
BrandOps has three tiers, each priced per month plus GST, all starting with the same 14-day free trial.
- Starter, ₹999/month: daily dashboard, task management, content pipeline, and up to 50 creators/clients/subscribers depending on your business type.
- Growth, ₹2,999/month: everything in Starter plus team collaboration for up to 5 people, unlimited creators/clients/subscribers, the AI assistant, push notifications, and advanced analytics.
- Agency, ₹9,999/month: everything in Growth plus multi-brand workspaces, unlimited team members, dedicated onboarding, Brand Hub, and Website Intelligence (1 site per brand).
- Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, no credit card required, and during that trial you get full Agency-tier access to evaluate everything before committing.
- Full plan-by-plan feature limits are covered in the Plan Limits guide.
The trial
The Billing tab shows a live countdown while you're trialing, and it's visible to everyone, not just the Owner.
- The trial banner reads "X days left in your free trial" and switches to "Your trial ends today" on the last day.
- During the trial you're treated as if you're on Agency. Every feature is unlocked, including capped or paid-tier-only ones, so you can genuinely test the product.
- You can pick a plan any time during the trial. You're not required to wait it out.
- Only the Owner sees the plan picker with an active "Choose" action; everyone else can see the trial status but can't act on it.
Choosing, upgrading, and downgrading
Plan changes happen from Organization → Billing, and self-serve rules differ depending on whether you're trialing or already paying.
- While trialing or locked, the Owner sees a full plan picker across all three tiers labelled "Choose your plan."
- Once you're actively paying, the picker only shows tiers above your current plan, labelled "Upgrade your plan." You literally can't self-serve into a same-or-lower tier while paid access is active.
- Only the workspace Owner can act on billing. Anyone else attempting a plan change gets "Only the workspace owner can manage billing."
- Already on Agency? The picker disappears entirely and is replaced with a note that you're on the top plan, with links to email or WhatsApp support for enterprise needs like custom workspaces or white-label options.
- Wanting to move to a lower tier isn't a self-serve flow. That goes through support.
What happens when access lapses
BrandOps distinguishes three states under the hood: trialing, paid, and locked. Locked is the only one that blocks the dashboard.
- If your trial ends and no plan has been chosen, the organization is "locked." A full-screen overlay ("Your free trial has ended") sits on top of the dashboard and blocks interaction until a plan is picked. It isn't a redirect, so once you pay it just disappears and you're back where you were.
- The overlay polls in the background every 15 seconds while locked, so if payment completes in another tab or the confirmation takes a moment to arrive, the lock clears on its own without a page reload.
- The same plan picker is always reachable directly at Organization → Billing too, in case you navigate there instead of using the overlay.
- Cancelling a subscription doesn't lock you out immediately. You keep access until the paid period you already covered runs out. Only after that date passes does the organization drop to Starter automatically.
- Nothing about your data changes when you're locked or downgraded. Locking only blocks using the dashboard; it doesn't delete anything.
Cancelling
Cancel subscription is available on the Billing tab whenever you have an active subscription.
- Only the Owner sees the Cancel subscription button, and it asks for confirmation before doing anything.
- Cancelling keeps your current plan active until the end of the billing period you already paid for. There's no immediate cutoff and no partial refund for the remaining days.
- The Billing tab shows exactly when access ends: "Access until [date], then downgrades to Starter."
- If your last payment fails instead of being cancelled, you'll see a "Payment failed" banner. That's a different state (halted/pending) and is handled by Razorpay's automatic retry, not by cancellation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are BrandOps' plans and prices?
Starter is ₹999/month, Growth is ₹2,999/month, and Agency is ₹9,999/month, plus 18% GST added at checkout. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial and no credit card is required to start.
What do I get during the free trial?
Full access to every feature, including Agency-tier ones like multi-brand workspaces and Website Intelligence, for 14 days with no card required. This lets you evaluate the whole product before picking a plan.
What happens when my trial ends without picking a plan?
Your workspace becomes locked. A full-screen "Your free trial has ended" screen blocks the dashboard until an Owner or Admin picks a plan. Nothing is deleted: your data is safe, and the moment payment goes through you're back exactly where you left off.
Who's allowed to change the plan or cancel the subscription?
Only the workspace Owner. Every billing action, including choosing a plan, upgrading, and cancelling, is restricted to the Owner role; Admins and below will see an error if they try.
Can I downgrade my plan myself?
Not self-serve once you're an active paying customer. The plan picker while you're paying only shows tiers above your current one. To move to a lower tier, contact support.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
You keep your current plan until the end of the billing period you already paid for. Cancelling doesn't cut you off immediately. After that date passes, your organization automatically downgrades to Starter.
What does 'Payment failed' mean on my billing page?
It means your last renewal charge didn't go through. Razorpay retries automatically, and you can update your payment method using the link in the billing email Razorpay sends you.
