Lead Finder

Lead Finder: automated lead search

Lead Finder searches Google Maps for businesses matching a keyword and city, checks each one's own website for a contact email, and lets you pick which results to bring into your Leads list, with no manual copy-pasting from search results.

This guide covers running a search, filtering for newer businesses, importing what you find, and setting a search to run automatically on a schedule.

Filtering for New Businesses

Turn on "New businesses only" to narrow results to a specific review-count band, since Google Maps has no field for how long a business has existed.

  • Set a Min reviews and Max reviews value (for example 0 to 5). Only listings inside that band are kept.
  • Because review count is a proxy for "new," not an exact signal, running separate searches across bands (0-10, then 10-20, 20-30…) covers more ground than one wide range and avoids re-pulling the same leads.
  • After a search finishes, a status line shows how many businesses were found in total and how many survived the review-count filter.
  • If nothing survives the filter, BrandOps tells you how many were found before filtering so you know to widen the range rather than assume the search failed.

Importing Results to Your Leads

Only results with a real email or Instagram handle can be selected; the rest are shown but greyed out.

  • Click "Select all with contact info" to select every result that has an email or an Instagram handle in one click, or check rows individually.
  • Each row shows whatever was found: email, Instagram handle (a direct link to message them), phone, website, address, and Google rating with review count.
  • Click "Add N to leads" to import the selected rows. They're sent to the same bulk-import endpoint used by the file-upload import.
  • Importing de-dupes automatically: by email when present, otherwise by Instagram handle. A confirmation shows how many were added and how many were already on file and skipped.

Exporting Without Importing

Not every search result needs to become a lead in BrandOps. The Download button lets you take the raw list elsewhere.

  • Download exports the full result set, including rows with no contact info, as CSV, Excel (.xlsx), or PDF.
  • The export includes name, phone, website, email, Instagram handle, address, rating, and review count for every result on screen.
  • This is independent of your selection, so you don't need to select anything to download.
  • Results are sourced by searching Google Maps listings and each business's own website; use them responsibly and in line with applicable laws.

Saved Searches (Automatic Runs)

A saved search runs the same Lead Finder logic automatically on a schedule, so you don't have to come back and click Search yourself.

  • Set a Name, Keyword, City, Max results per run (5-25), and how often it runs: Daily, Every 3 days, Weekly, Every 2 weeks, or Monthly.
  • The same "New businesses only" review-count band filter is available for saved searches as for a manual one.
  • Toggle a saved search's Armed switch to pause or resume it; turning it on shows "next run within 2 hours" so you know it's live.
  • Each saved search shows its last run time and result ("found N new leads") or its last error if a run failed.
  • Optionally auto-enroll new leads with an email into a sequence. Nothing sends automatically; new leads land as "Queued" in Your Leads for you to review first.
  • A saved search draws from the same monthly Lead Finder search limit as running one manually from the Find Leads tab.

Importing From a Spreadsheet

Already have a list of leads? Import from Excel or CSV skips the search entirely and works from your own file.

  • Drop or browse for a .csv, .xlsx, or .xls file, up to 500 rows. A template CSV is available to download if you want the expected column layout.
  • BrandOps auto-guesses each column's target field from its header text (e.g. a column named "E-mail" maps to Email automatically); you can override any mapping.
  • You need a Name column mapped, plus at least one of Email or Instagram handle, before you can continue to preview.
  • The preview table flags rows with a missing name, no email or handle, an invalid email, or an email that already matches an existing lead. Duplicate and invalid rows are unchecked by default, but you can tick a duplicate row to import it anyway.
  • After importing, you get a count of how many leads were added versus how many were skipped as duplicates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Lead Finder search actually do?

It runs a real headless browser against Google Maps for your keyword and city, then visits each business's own website to try to find a contact email. It isn't pulling from a purchased mailing list; every result comes from publicly listed business info, which is why a search takes a minute or two rather than returning instantly.

Why does a search take so long?

Because it's a real browser scraping Google Maps and then opening each business's website to look for an email, not a database lookup. A lock screen stays up for the duration with live progress (fetching listings, then looking up emails) so you don't navigate away and lose a not-yet-imported result set. You can cancel the search at any time.

What does the "New businesses only" filter do?

Google Maps doesn't publish a business's open date, so BrandOps uses review count as a stand-in for "new." Turn it on and set a min/max review range (for example 0-10) to keep only listings inside that band. Since it's a proxy and not a real signal, sweeping through bands (0-10, then 10-20, 20-30…) across separate searches covers more ground than one wide range.

Can I export results without importing them?

Yes. The Download button on the results list exports everything found, with or without contact info, as CSV, Excel (.xlsx), or PDF, independent of what you've selected to import.

Will I ever import the same lead twice?

No. Importing de-duplicates by email when a lead has one, and by Instagram handle when it doesn't. Leads already on file are skipped, and the import result tells you how many were added versus how many already existed.

Do saved searches share the same search limit as a manual search?

Yes. A saved search runs Lead Finder automatically on its own schedule, and it draws from the same monthly Lead Finder search limit as running a search manually from the Find Leads tab.

Can new leads from a saved search get enrolled into a sequence automatically?

You can set a saved search to auto-enroll into an outreach sequence, but nothing sends automatically. New leads with an email are flagged "Queued" in Your Leads for you to review before anything actually goes out.

What if I already have a spreadsheet of leads instead of running a search?

Use Import from Excel or CSV instead. Upload a .csv, .xlsx, or .xls file (up to 500 rows), map its columns to lead fields, and BrandOps auto-guesses the mapping from your header names. A Name column plus at least an Email or Instagram handle column is required to proceed.
